Animal Farm & Nature Reserve is a hotspot for birds including many of Jamaica's endemic species. Book a birdwatching tour for a chance to see the Jamaican Tody, Jamaican Woodpecker, Jamaican Parakeet (pictured above) and so many other local and migrant species that can be found in Jamaica.  Early morning birding trips are ideal so be sure to book in advance.

For the more physically active, put on your hiking boots and take a 2-hour trek in the jungle. Start in the dry limestone forests at the top of the farm and descend into the dense rainforest along the banks of the beautiful Great River. Along the way expect to see interesting local flora and fauna and be educated by your well-informed guide.

Go deep in the rainforest and float down the Great River on a bamboo raft. With overhanging trees on both banks of the river, visitors are sure to hear and see a wide variety of birdlife singing and moving about the trees, as well as giant bromeliads firmly attached to tree branches. Enjoy a limestone foot massage from your knowledgeable raft captain who will ensure you have an enchanting and absolutely relaxing experience.

• Suitable for all ages. Best experienced during the winter season when there is less rainfall.

• What to bring: water shoes (recommended), sun protection including eco-friendly and waterproof sunscreen, eco-friendly insect repellant, swimwear (optional).

Explore on your own. You can bird-watch, hike, rent our grill, picnic by the Great River, enjoy the playground, and visit our gift shop. Our team will be on-site to assist you if needed.

Have your own camping gear? Let us host you. Rent our camping grounds and the use of our bathroom facilities for a truly authentic experience with nature.  We have security on site.
