Established in 2000

Welcome to Animal Farm & Nature Reserve, a dream-turned-reality nestled in the heart of Copse, Hanover, Jamaica. Once just a dense expanse I called "The Bush," this now-thriving haven emerged from my vision, transformed over weekends and early mornings, into a showcase of Jamaica's vibrant flora, fauna, and the majestic Great River.

My journey began with a childhood passion for raising chickens, a hobby that evolved into a full-fledged aviculture venture. Today, Animal Farm & Nature Reserve proudly offers organic quail meat and eggs to the local market. Our farm boasts over 50 varieties of exotic birds, including the iconic Rasta Fowl, our signature breed, known for its distinctive feather tufts resembling dreadlocks, as seen in the White Crested Black Polish Chicken.

The evolution of "The Bush" has been a remarkable journey, expanding from 6 acres to an impressive 40 acres. The acquisition of an additional 34 acres that I admired for its natural beauty and extensive river frontage, marked a pivotal moment in our growth and, on Saturday, January 8, 2000, Animal Farm & Nature Reserve was officially opened by the Honourable Francis Tulloch, M.P. then Minister of Tourism.

For me, this retreat is not just a business; it's my perfect getaway where I've cultivated a profound love for Mother Nature's precious gifts. It's a place of ultimate peace (including the near-constant crowing of our chickens), and I'm delighted to share this haven with you.

Explore the wonders of Animal Farm & Nature Reserve and experience the serenity that has become my refuge.

Warm regards,

Geoffrey Williams, Owner

At Animal Farm & Nature Reserve, we take pride in our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, ensuring our farm operates in harmony with nature. Nestled in the heart of the Montpelier Hills, our eco-friendly practices extend beyond the ordinary, setting us apart as a beacon of sustainability.

Join us in our journey towards a greener, more sustainable future. At Animal Farm & Nature Reserve,  we're cultivating a legacy of environmental responsibility and respect for our planet.

Alternative Energy

Embracing a fully off-the-grid lifestyle, Animal Farm & Nature Reserve is powered by solar energy, harnessing the abundant Caribbean sunlight to sustain our operations. We also generate biogas from pig waste, transforming waste into a valuable resource and minimizing our environmental footprint.

Natural Water Management

Our dedication to responsible water usage is evident in our reliance on the nearby Great River. We draw water from this majestic source, treating it on-site and employing a number of conservation practices. Additionally, we embrace rainwater harvesting, utilizing every drop to nurture our farm's vitality.

Composting for a Greener Tomorrow

We believe in the power of composting to enrich the soil and reduce waste. Our farm embraces composting as a natural and effective method, transforming organic matter into nutrient-rich soil amendments. By doing so, we eliminate the need for commercial fertilisers and contribute to a healthier ecosystem and a greener tomorrow.

Plastic Bottle Collection

Committed to tackling plastic pollution, we actively collect and repurpose plastic bottles on our farm. Through recycling initiatives, we aim to reduce the environmental impact of single-use plastics, fostering a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Free of Harmful Chemicals

Conscious of the impact of agricultural (and other) practices on the environment, we proudly embrace an environmentally friendly chemical usage policy.  Our commitment to organic principles ensures that our products and property are cultivated with care, free from harmful chemicals that can harm the land and its inhabitants.

Continuous Innovation for Sustainability

At Animal Farm & Nature Reserve, innovation is at the core of our sustainability efforts. We are constantly exploring new ways to improve our practices, reduce waste, and enhance our eco-friendly initiatives. As stewards of the land, we believe in evolving alongside nature to create a lasting and positive impact.
